Abstract

The need to provide a forward driven model that address the increasing spate of employee’s turnover in hotels in the FCT was what premised this study. Hence, the study assessed the effect of job crafting on employee job meaningfulness in selected hotels in FCT-Abuja. Cross sectional survey design was used. The study population is 280 employees of selected hotels within the FCT. A total of five hotels were selected. The study sample size was 165 and was determined using Taro Yamane formula. Convenience sampling technique was used. Questionnaire was used for data collection. Reliability of the questionnaires was determined using Cronbach alpha. Content validity was employed, ensuring that the chosen variables are relevant to the study. Multiple regression technique was utilized with the aid of SPSSv27. It was found that all three dimensions of job crafting, cognitive, task and relational crafting showed significant and positive effect on employee job meaning-fulness in selected hotels in the FCT. The analysis concludes that recognizing and promoting job crafting among hotel managers is crucial for fostering a positive work environment and enhancing employee well-being. It was recommended that managers should implement training programmes, support employees to tailor their task to suit their strength and preferences while also ensuring collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
