Abstract

This study examined the effect of affective commitment on organizational citizenship behaviour in Africa Independent Television, Abuja. altruism, conscientiousness and sportsmanship are variables of organizational citizenship behaviour. The study used explanatory research design and structured questionnaire was used to generate data for the study. A total of 138 employees of African Inde-pendent Television were used as the population of the study. A five-point Likert scale was used in coding data. The study used partial least square’s structural equation modeling technique in ana-lysing the data generated. Findings from the analysis revealed that affective commitment has posi-tive significant effect on altruism and conscientiousness while negative significant effect on sports-manship. In view of the findings, the study concludes that affective commitment has effect on or-ganizational citizenship behaviour among the employees of Africa Independent Television, Abuja. Therefore, the study recommends that the management of Africa Independent Television, Abuja should encourage affective commitment among the employees so that employees can feel comfort-able in every task due to good behavior of co-workers. Again, the management of Africa Inde-pendent Television, Abuja should pay attention to important factors such as recognition which tends to increase employee’s commitment to the organization and among employees.
