ADAPTIVE WORKPLACE AND PERFORMANCE OF EMPLOYEES OF CONSTRUCTION FIRMS IN NORTH CENTRAL NIGERIA

Despite the effective training that is carried out to best equip the construction firms employees of construction firms have been performing below expectation, which is evident by not meeting approved target from client leading to dissatisfactions such as project delays, construction failures as well as building collapse. However, the study examines adaptive workplace and performance of employees of construction firms in north central Nigeria. The population of the study comprised of all employees of selected construction firms in North-Central in Plateau state and Nasarawa state. A sample of 243 employees was arrived at using Taro Yammane formula from a population of 340 employees of construction firms. Primary data was collected using structured questionnaire from the respondents and analysed using multiple regression analysis. The study found a positive effect of flexible work arrangement on the performance of construction firms’ employees in North-Central Nigeria. Likewise, working environment indicates a positive effect on employees’ performance of construction firms’ in North-Central Nigeria. The study recommends that construction firms should adopt task-based flexible work arrangements, such as allowing employees to adjust work hours or work remotely for administrative tasks. This enhances job satisfaction and productivity by accommodating personal schedules while maintaining project deadlines. They should ensure well-maintained equipment, proper site organization, and adherence to safety protocols. This reduces workplace accidents and fosters a sense of security, leading to improved employee morale and performance.Downloads
