Abstract

The integration of GHRMP by manufacturing firms in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria is anticipated to enhance organizational effectiveness by promoting environmentally responsible practices and improving overall operational performance. However, recent performance data for Nigerian manufacturing firms reveals significant fluctuations. This study investigated the effect of green human resources management practices on the performance of selected manufacturing firms in Abuja, Nigeria. The study specifically focused on green recruitment and selection (GRS) and green training and development (GTD). The underpinning theory of the study is resource-based theory. Utilizing a survey research design, primary data was collected from 837 employees of registered manufacturing firms. The sample size of 298 was determined using Taro Yamane's formula, with respondents selected through simple random sampling. The collected data was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The study confirms That GRS and GTD have significant positive effects on the performance of manufacturing firms in Abuja It concludes that integrating green HRM practices is essential for enhancing manufacturing firms' performance in Abuja: thus, stressing the pivotal role of sustainable HR practices in driving organizational success. Recommendations include adopting comprehensive green recruitment strategies, investing in green training and development programs, and fostering collaboration with stakeholders to strengthen sustainability commitments, improve performance, and enhance competitiveness.
